3H - The Happy Healthy Home Project

I was first introduced with Method products in March this year, when they approached me for a review of their Gel Hand Wash. It was a love at first sight, and I learnt a lot about non-toxic and eco-friendly products. I used to think that eating organic food and keep my house and environment clean are sufficient to keep my family healthy and happy. I was wrong, it is more than that..

When they invited me and my husband to their Blogger Tea Party in last June, we learnt more on establishing a clean, green home besides getting to know their products better. It was an eye opener, and together we decided to change our routine slowly in certain areas. To get rid of toxic products from our home, as a start :)

I was surprised that Method Malaysia actually acknowledged my intention of transforming my home into a happy, healthy home in 6 months duration. We were very lucky to be chosen for the Happy Healthy Home Project (3H Project); Method Malaysia's first ever blogger project.

In this 3H project, there are 3 rooms for us to turn into happy healthy rooms by removing the toxic cleaners and substitute it with non-toxic and eco-friendly cleaners from Method. Sounds like a good challenge, isn't it? :)

I have chosen the Laundry area, our Bathroom and our Bedroom as the rooms that will undergo the transformations. To be frank, I am pretty excited about it, and I can't wait to give reviews on each product - to see how effective it is  to clean with non-toxic products (cause I used to think that cleaners with strong chemical scents cleans better! :P).

InsyaAllah, I will give my honest review during this project. Not only that, along the journey, I will also share with you eco-friendly tips for the stay-at-home mom, what busy working mom need when it comes to cleaning, as well as recycling tips and arts. It should be fun! ;)

So if you too, is keen to change and make your home toxic-free and eco-friendly, stay tune for my future post on this 3H project.

For Hawwa', For Me :)

The month Ramadhan is known for it's blessings and rewards, for those who make full use of it.

From Abu Hurairah reported, Nabi Muhammad SAW said,

"When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained."

From this hadith, we can say that it is easier to do good deed in the month of Ramadhan, as well as leaving our sins and bad deed. It is true, 16 years ago I finally given the Nur to start wearing hijab on the first day of Ramadhan. Alhamdulillah...

Until today, it made me happy to see the people I know doing the same thing especially during Ramadhan. Masya Allah, they look even more beautiful with hijab... Suka sangat sangat :)

Speaking of hijab, few days ago I received a parcel from For Hawwa', a newly launched online hijab shop. The first thing that caught my eyes was the packaging; simple, and very neat (they even had clips on the folded scarf so that the shape maintained in the packaging). Plus point! :)

It's a chiffon scarf with patch lace at the edge from Classy Hawwa' collection 2. I loves chiffon scarf to begin with, because it's easier to style (that is important! :P) whilst material-wise, it's not too thick and not too thin...just perfect for our weather. What makes it stand out is that high quality beads and pearls were sewn on top of the lace...lovely! ;)

I was so excited to try it on so I decided to wear it to the office today and to our department's Iftar session later in the evening:

Black and Grey combo for today. Modest. Love the look! :)

Inner Dress: unbranded
Cropped dress: F21
Scarf: For Hawwa'
Wedges: Charles and Keith

What I really like about this scarf is that the patch lace is not too heavy and it is long enough, so you can style it as you desire. Yang penting; cover the aurah + comfy ;) Of course in this case I don't want to look so grand or "jangok" (as what the East Coast people said it :P) wearing it to the office. :)

It would be a waste not to highlight the beautiful detailing of this scarf so for special occasions such as the coming Eid and weddings, I have chosen to have this style as one of my look:

Sempat lagi lilit-lilit at surau after solat. :P
See, I told you...it's so easy to style!

Close up: the detailing of the scarf.
Cun kan?
It's using high quality materials and the detailings are hand sewn in pet free and smoking free home.
Jahitan pun kemas.
Feeling model skejap. Haha! Sorry, but scarf ni best! :))

Classy Hawwa' collection 2 comes in 11 attractive colors and these are among of my favourites:

Classy Hawwa' collection 2

That's not all. Actually, Classy Hawwa' comes in 6 collections altogether with different materials including satin, polyester and chiffon. They are also selling square scarves (in collection 4), fyi :)

On my shopping list, next! :))

I bet you are "drooling" right now...yes? no? :)

Oh well I do! Hihi..

If you are still looking the scarf to match your Raya outfit, then For Hawwa might me the one you looking for :)

For the full collection, do visit their FB fanpage here or best, follow their Instagram account here to get the latest update.

FYI, to maintain it's exclusivity, only limited pieces available for each collection. So...

Pat, pat siku lipat,
siapa cepat dia dapat!

hihi :)

Recipe: Frozen Chocolate Banana

Assalamualaikum,

Hello dear readers, how's your fasting so far? I hope everyone is on-track with the target for this Ramadhan. Mudah-mudahan, insyaAllah :)

Today I would like to share an easy peasy recipe, with the intention of sharing, not to allure you...It's so simple to prepare, no cooking is needed and it's healthy! Who knows it can be another menu to break the fast today? ;)

Frozen Chocolate Banana

Ingredients:

1. Ripe Bananas
2. Cooking chocolate
3. Almond flakes or crushed nuts
4. Bamboo skewers

Method:

1. Peel of the bananas, cut into half. Skewed the bananas into the skewers.
2. Lined a tray/plate with aluminium foil/ plastic wrap.
3. Placed the skewed banana in the tray/plate. Froze it into the freezer for 1-2hours.
4. Diced the cooking chocolate. Using double-boiling method, melted the chocolate.

5. Take out the skewed bananas. Coat/dip each banana with sufficient amount of chocolate and coat with almond flakes.
6. Keep in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Note:
- Some people add a bit of canola oil to prevent thick coating of the chocolate onto the banana. I omit this as me and my family are chocolate lovers! :D
- Besides almond flakes and crushed nuts, you can also coat the frozen banana with toasted coconuts or candy sprinkles :)
- You can substitute banana with any suitable fruits such as strawberries and kiwi. The key here is; be creative! :)

Am sure your children will love this too...

Happy Trying! ;)

The DIY Playhouse Story

We have shifted back to USJ house two weeks prior to Ramadhan and it took us weeks to open the boxes and rearranged back our stuff. The first few days back in USJ, pile of boxes were seen everywhere inside the house; the hall, the dining room, the kitchen and each corner of all the bedrooms. Each day I came back home, feeling restless the moment I saw the boxes inside our room. For almost two weeks, I slept at 2am just to clear few boxes each day...

To date, the newly renovated house is about 80% completed in terms of deco and arrangement while our room sweet room is 70% completed. We are still hunting for few small furniture to complete the look and waiting for our roller blinds to be delivered soon. Hope to complete it all by Eid, insyaAllah :)

Now that we have unloaded most of the stuff, we have another piles of empty boxes lying down at the backyard. I was thinking of what shall I do with it besides handed those boxes to the recycling centres (we have few in Subang Jaya and Putra Heights). While browsing the net, I finally came to this website that have an interesting project with boxes; to make a cardboard playhouse! It's been a while since I did an art project with my children so I was pretty much excited about it.

But then, the twins' birthday came in and I totally forgot about the art project. And when finally I have the free time, I came to know from bibik that most of the boxes has been given away... Arghh! :( There goes my playhouse, I thought. Until bibik came to me and said that there were two small boxes left. I take a look at those boxes, they were not that big and not-that-good in terms of condition either but what the heck let just try, I told myself :D

So my art project begun with this...

2 small boxes
duck tapes
scissor
a wrapping paper (which i found from one of the boxes :P)

So I finally "transformed" this plain box....

The front look..

The side look

It was 70% completed (eh, eh, same as our bedroom % plak :P) as I wanted to trim down the door to make a double radius shape door, painted the door and walls with my children and decorate it.

Guess what??

The minute I brought the 3 FNs inside the room for the painting part, all three of them got excited and ALL THREE tried to sit inside the playhouse with the door closed. ALL THREE

I swear the playhouse only lasted for 20 minutes before the door started to tear off, the 4 small windows became 1 BIG window and the roof collapsed. Oh my children! LOL!! :))

Guess I need a gigantic box to make one that can fit my munchkins at one time :P

Being someone who is ambitious (is it??? :P), this is my next target.  How long will it last, then? Can you guess? Hehehehe :D

A Beautiful Story On Mahr..

What a beautiful story, masyaAllah... :)

*Copied from FB page - Muslim Jewel*

Hiba Ammar writes: When my father proposed to my mother… He dedicated Surah Al-Imran, which he memorized off heart, as her “Mahr” (dowry) And when my husband proposed to me, my father told him that he would have to memorize a surah of the Quran as my mahr.. The wedding will not go on unless i've received my mahr :)

I was asked to pick one of the surahs… I chose Surah Al-Noor… For all the laws that Surah contained within it and for the fact that it seemed hard to memorize on my behalf. And before our wedding day; aside of being busy preparing for our “Newly wedded Nest”… The Quran wouldn't leave my husband’s hand an entire month as he was memorizing the surah…

A few day before our wedding day, my husband came to recite to my father the surah which he had completed. My father told him every time u make a mistake, u would have to start from the beginning all over again :)) My husband began reciting surah Al-Noor with his calm/gentle voice in such a “beautiful” scene which I will never forget. My mother and I would look at one another and would smile awaiting my husband to make a mistake so he would have to start all over again and by that increase my “Reward”…

But my husband - May Allah bless him - had memorized the surah off heart and didn’t even forget one single verse of it. Once he finished my father hugged him and said to him: “Today I shall marry my daughter to u for u have fulfilled her mahr.. and your pledge to me..” He didn’t pay me a financial mahr… And we didn’t buy gold worth tens of thousands… He sufficed me with Allah’s words as an oath/contract between us…

Twinnies Birthday Party

Alhamdulillah, my twin daughters turn 2 years old last Sunday. The initial plan was to have a family dinner with my in-laws followed by simple cake-cutting session but again, it was changed. Two days prior to the twins big day, my husband suggested that we have a small birthday party for the girls. And the "best" part was, he asked me to order a "Pocoyo" birthday cake since the girls are sooo into this cartoon series...

Oh My Gucci! To search for a baker that can at least prepare an edible cake of Pocoyo within 3 days was not an easy task! Usually it will take at least 5 days BEFORE to order such a cake. *sobs!. I tried to ask Ana, the baker who did Faaz's transformers cake last January but unfortunately she was not fit to do baking as she injured herself recently while playing futsal. Poor Ana! After searching high and low, I finally remembered Sue, who baked the twins 1st birthday cake. Tried contacting her few times but failed...until that very Friday evening, she finally contacted me back and agree to bake a Pocoyo Rainbow Cake. Alhamdulillah...weeeee!!

The "precious" birthday cake...hehehe
Memang rezeki twins lah! :)

What's inside...
The rainbow cake was nice! recommended! ;)
visit here to order

I didn't do much deco-wise, because it was only a small party. The intention was to gather the siblings to celebrate our daughters birthday, with small extended invites to the relatives that lives nearby (they are actually our close neighbours). The only thing that I prepared was the invitation card, just for fun :)

Maybe because they knew it was their bornday that the girls became excited and full of energy that they refused to have their afternoon nap like the usual. They were all excited when I dressed them up, and giggled when their Daddy snap their photos.

The twins in Tia Amour dresses

Happy to pose!

and so does abang Faaz!

But it wasn't that long tho...To add my worry, most of the guest arrived later than 3:30pm that at one point, both of them were already lying down with their pacifier on, which means they were already sleepy!! T_T

As soon as both of Fadzil's siblings arrived, I quickly requested to proceed with the cake cutting session 1st, worried that Faiqa and Falisya might fell asleep. Falisya jumped of excitement when she saw her Pocoyo cake, but Faiqa was too sleepy. She kept on sucking her pacifier and refused to stand up. And when everyone gathered to sing the "Happy Birthday" song, she started crying! (ain't it funny that it was Falisya who cried last night and now it's Faiqa's turn?? :P).

A bit of drama there...haha

Since Faiqa still refused to stand and cried, we decided to let the younger sister, Falisya to continue blowing the candles and cut the cake by herself. She was cool, and it was cute to see how excited she was with the whole Pocoyo thingy!

She was all out to blow the candles!

Proudly cutting her birthday cake.
Steady lah adik! ;) Doesn't look like a 2 year old at all! :))

She couldn't believe that Pocoyo and Ellie were in front of her that she practically closed her eyes twice and stared at the cake before giggled. hahaha!

We prepared light food for that afternoon, since it's already tea time. Pizzas, Fried Mee Hoon, finger foods and desserts were among the menu. What's special that day, for the very first time our Bibik cooked for us (FYI I never let her cooking for us since I want my family to eat strictly my cooking-my "air tangan" and same goes to my MIL). She prepared an Indonesian dessert (kuih) which is similar to our Tepung Bungkus. Tanda bibik sayang si kembar katanya...Thanks Bik! :)

The food..

and the guests (some)

It was when most of the crowd were busy eating and chatting that Faiqa finally stood up and started to have a closer look at her birthday cake. I just let both of them touching and playing with the cartoon figurine for a while before cutting the cake and let everyone tasted it.

:)

We don't have a proper family photo either during this birthday celebration. We only have one photo, taken by my SIL while we were eating and Faaz was missing in action. He was too busy playing with his cousins that he was missing from our radar :P

Us and our precious daughters. What a photo! Haha!

Abang Faaz yang macam biskut. Kejap ada, kejap hilang :P

Before the twins fell asleep, we let them opened some of the presents they got. Among them includes...

Coin box and cash $$$.

Thanks Reen, twins dah pandai menabung.
They practically asked us for coins everyday since! LOL! :))

Thanks for this toy, Munif!
Faiqa was so amazed with the lights and the songs!

Thanks for the laptop, Aunty Fauziah. The twins loves it so much!
(Tak payah tukar!!)

That's basically how the twins spent their bornday. Simple and modest. We hope both of you were happy and enjoyed the day :) InsyaAllah, Daddy and Mommy will plan for a proper and big party once you girls have friends, and know how to appreciate one. Happy 2nd Birthday Faiqa Nayra and Falisya Nayla. May both of you grow healthy, wise, happy and beautifully. Jadi anak-anak yang solehah ya. We love you loads! Mmmmuahs! :)

Love,
