Jalan - Jalan Raya 2013

This year, my husband and I decided to take a week off for Eid holiday. Adding up the public holiday for Eid, we have a  total of 11 days off...wee! It was a holiday well spent with family and friends. I know our kids especially, enjoyed it because the minute we started to work again last Monday, the twins throw tantrums! They were crying and looking for us the whole day! tsk! T_T

~1st Eid~

On the 1st Syawal, we stayed at home until noon because our house was the host for mama's family gathering this year. By evening, most of us decided to gather at aunty Aisyah's place in Gombak, where the cousins from Sabak Bernam came and stayed a night. We then later proceed to Sunway to have a family dinner with Aunty Faridah and family. The agenda of the day was none other than EATING. Hihi :)

Part of the big family at home..

The kids at aunty Aisyah's crib. By this time they already bathed and changed to jeans and t-shirt for comfort. hihi..

(sempat!) :P

~2nd Eid~

Since it was Friday, we waited until after Friday prayer before we started our Jalan-jalan trip. We visited husband's eldest cousin, Datin Abri and family. We stayed there until late evening..

~3rd Eid~

On the third day, we went to Aunty Illah's open house in Bukit Jelutong. Aunty Illah is mama's youngest sibling. Coincidentally, there were three father-and-son couples wearing the same outfit together that day. However, uncle Johan and Faiz has left before we took a family photo, hence leaving only my husband-Faaz with Uncle Farooq - Imraan (see the pic below - bottom, right) :)

~4th - 6th Eid~

4th Syawal was the day I looked forward cause it's the day we left KL for my mom's hometown in Batu Pahat. Balik kampung time, yay!! :) As usual we stayed at the Katerina Hotel and lepak at my grandma's house. Apart from visiting the family there, the kids enjoyed the swimming sessions. Faaz even had his swimming lessons from his Daddy. It was havoc! Haha! :)

~7th Eid~

Instead of attending open houses, on 7th Eid we visited Sunway Medical Hospital instead. There's two family members warded at the same hospital. My husband's cousin, Fariz was admitted for a minor surgery while my SIL, Reen delivered her first baby on the same day...the new addition to Abdul Kadir's clan! :)

My latest nephew...bila nak dapat niece nie?? :)

~10th Eid~

After few days off from the open house activity, we went for an Eid potluck with our ex-uni friends. FYI, we were friends since 1999, when we first entered the matriculation center. It's a 14 years of friendship and counting, insyaAllah! ;) Wished the rest of the clan were there with us tho...nevertheless, it was fun especially to see that our children can mingle well with each other. Kecoh! :P

That is pretty much of how we spent the first week of Eid. Can't wait to continue our Eid jalan-jalan activity this coming weekend!

Have a nice weekend, everyone :)

The Coordinated Eid Outfit

Alhamdulillah, with God's mercy and blessing we got to celebrate 1st Syawal after a month fasting on Ramadhan. Like the previous years after I got married, 1st Eid was celebrated with my in-laws, in Subang Jaya.

My husband is not the type of man who would make a new baju melayu on each Syawal. According to him, it will be a waste since he did not wear baju melayu for any other occasion, except on 1st Eid or during funerals. Itupun few hours je...usually by the noon of 1st Eid, he had already changed to jeans and shirt :P So far, he has a few baju melayu in the closet (4 to be exact) so on each Eid I will rotate between the 4 colors, with of course, the consent from him :P

We finally decided the royal blue again this year and since then I started to search the Eid outfit for the twins first. I had a tough time buying the twins kurung last year, as I only begun my shopping at the 3rd week of Ramadhan and most of the kurungs that I like left  with only 1 final piece for each size. Finally I stumbled into a seller in FB that sell cute peplum kurung for kids, and co-incidentally one of the color available was a combination of royal blue & yellow mustard. Since the last time it was royal blue + purple, I thought why not choosing something cheerful this time...so color blocking it was! hihi :)

Royal blue + Purple in 2011

It was a week after my 44 days of confinement.
Berisi. Hihi :P

Royal blue + yellow mustard in 2013

All looking and smiling at the camera.
Alhamdulillah... :)

Falisya & Faiqa with their ready made peplum kurung.
I just love the simple design. Cute!

To match with my girls, I opt for this blue Laluna Fishtail Peplum from BMyB and highlighted the yellow mustard trough my old Radiusite scarf.

Love the peplum so much!
:)
Walau gamble beli online, bila pakai cantik terletak :)

Since obviously my husband will wear his royal blue baju melayu, I decided yellow mustard baju melayu instead for Faaz to coordinate our outfit.

Faaz's baju melayu was the only one I bought at a shop in Plaza Alam Sentral, Shah Alam and not via online. hihihi. :)

Hubby didn't commented much when all of us has dressed-up (he didn't know I added the yellow mustard as well, he thought it will be a plain royal blue theme). He only questioned me why Faaz's baju melayu is in yellow color, not royal blue when I was ironing our raya outfit. Hihi..

But I overheard his conversation with mama later on that day,

Mama: "Nicelah Jil your family theme this year"
Him: "Ha tulah, very nice. I didn't know it's gonna be blue and yellow. It's all Nadia's idea. Now even my baju melayu looks new, it compliment well with the rest."

and it made me smile with "hati yang berbunga-bunga"

Good to know, hubs, although from far...

Hihihi :)

Recipe: Tauhu Bunga (Fried Flower Tofu)

An easy peasy recipe which my mom used to prepare for our Iftar when we were young. It's crunchy, it's tasty, am sure your kids will love it ;)

Ingredients:

10 pieces of Tauhu Pok (Tauhu Goreng - usually used for Curry Mee)
1 chicken breast, minced * (some used prawn meat)
1 red chilli, minced *
spring onion, thinly sliced *
1 chicken cube *
1 tablespoon corn flour *
1 egg *

Method:

1. Cut half of the width of Tauhu Pok with scissors, in + shape (refer photo). Then invert the outer side of the tauhu (skin) so that it became the inside part instead, hence having the 'flower' shape. (sorry! I forgot to snap the inverted tauhu! :P).

2. Trimmed the excessive tauhu from the skin and set it aside.

3. Mixed well all the ingredients with sign, together with the excessive tauhu in the mixing bowl.

4. Shaped the chicken mixture into a small ball and stuffed it back inside the tauhu flower. Do for all 10 tauhu pok and keep for a while in the refrigerator (for about 20 minutes).

5. Heat the oil in the frying pan with medium heat. Fry the tauhu flower upside down. Once the stuffed chicken is brownish, turn the flower to cook the other side. Fry until both sides are browned, and the chicken is well cooked.

Serve it with chilli sauce!

3H Project: Laundry with Method - Part I

Laundry is my first project with Method and I am pretty much excited about it. First and foremost, let me welcome you to our humble laundry area. It is actually a small space between the children's playroom and the kitchen's toilet, and it is near to the back door, where we hang our clothes outside :)

A bit empty there isn't it? Hihi...

Since we just moved back to USJ house after the renovation, we haven't got the chance to decorate this area properly. Basically, we reused the old stuff we had and make do with it, and that includes my flower vase. If you noticed, it is actually the chic bottle of Method Gel Hand Wash that I love so much!! :)

Ok, enough on that and let's move on the main topic here; laundry. :P

For this first review project, I've been given two Method's laundry products;

1)  Method's Laundry Detergent in Fresh Air scent.

2) Method Fabric Softener in Fresh Air scent.

What is so special about it compared to conventional detergents?

From my point of view, there are 3 criterias that make this brand stand out compared to the ordinary detergents:

1) The Smartclean Technology

Method Laundry Detergent/Fabric Softener is using the smartclean technology

What is this technology is all about?

What it does?

Let me explain it in the most simplest word... :)

If you see from the above diagram, in the traditional detergents, the cleaning agents (colorful circles) are surrounded by water. In order for them to work, they have to break open to release the surfactants and to do so requires agitation and time. Sometimes, not all surfactants break through and due to this, you use (and waste!) more detergent than you actually need!

Whilst, smartclean technology is designed in such way that the cleaning agents are outside and the water is inside. Thus, it will work right away; once you start washing they immediately drawn to the dirt and stains. Brilliant, isn't it?

That is why, Method claim that it only require 4 pumps for 1 normal load, and for it's 500ml bottle, you can have 50 loads per bottle for both detergent and fabric softener. Both detergent and softener are selling at RM41.80 each, which means , I only spent 84 cents for each load! Isn't it value for money?? Oh, I loike ! ;)

2) Wisely Designed

Another plus point for this product from my point of view lies in the design. Not only it is stylish to begin with, it is also wisely design:

- The lightweight bottle can be easily hold with one hand. You know how clingy you baby/toddler can be at times, right? With Method laundry detergent I can happily carrying Falisya (my youngest and most clingy child) in one hand while doing my laundry! ;)

- It has a pink tube inside the detergent/fabric softener bottle that is designed to assist you to get each and every drop of the liquid inside the bottle. Total save!

3) Safe for your clothes, safe for your skin, safe for the environment!

Did you know that actually many of the ingredients in laundry detergent and softeners don't fully wash out? They remain in fabrics (why do you think it has that scent?). Think your clothing as a second skin, one that rub against you all day long. Of course daily, you wear your clothes next to your skin for 12 hours a day. Common sense would say this can't be too good since we all know how dermal patch works. Even scary, if it touches your skin, it will easily find its way into the bloodstream. Erk!!

Fret no more, ladies and gents, Method's high-powered formula is readily biodegradable, non-toxic in use and is made using 95% natural and renewable ingredients. It is safe!

If you still have the doubt, why not check the list of ingredients in each of these two laundry products on their website (see bottom right, in circled), Method is pretty transparent on this :)

Listed Ingredients for both laundry detergent and fabric softener are:
  • Biodegradable plant-based surfactant blend
  • Vegetable glycerin
  • Non-toxic solvents (natural and synthetic)
  • Enzyme blend
  • Biodegradable polymers and Builder
  • Calcium chloride
  • Biodegradable brightening agent
  • Antioxidant
  • Glycerin carbonate
  • Dimethicone and Silica blend
  • Fragrance oil blend
  • Purified Water

Thanks to their ultra concentrated formula (it’s 8x concentrated!), Method's bottle uses over 36% less plastic compared to traditional 2x detergent. It is also made from 50% recycled plastic, and overall, it has a 35% lower carbon footprint than conventional detergents (calculated per load from cradle to gate using planetmetrics ™ rapid carbon modeling software).
[**Tip: Wanna save the usage of water? Re-use the waste water used for laundry to water your plants, without any worry!**]

No wonder some claims that Method Laundry Detergent/Fabric Softener are world's most innovative green laundry detergent! :)

Sounds very inviting, isn't it? ;)

Wait for Part 2  where I will reviewing both detergent and the fabric softener in terms of texture and scents, how effective it is in cleaning the dirty laundry and what it feels wearing clothes with toxic-free detergent.

I even have a little man to be my judge and I guarantee you he is very honest (very!!)

Stay tuned!

 Love,
