Nickelodeon Channel has never been a stranger to me. It was among my favourite Astro channel when I was a teenanger. I love watching the family-comedy shows but the show I've always looked forward each year was none other than the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards show.
For those who did not know, the Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards is a slime-tastic extravaganza where kids get to pay tribute to their favourites across the worlds of film, television, music and more. Apart from the signature green, gooey and slimy liquid, being a teen at that time of course I looked forward to see my favourite stars (singers and actors) being honoured and performed at the show...boyband especially. Haha!
Can't believe Nickelodeon is now in its 35th year globally and 16th year in Asia and my favourite award show has turned 27th this year. How time flew! Since I started my "official" Stay At Home Mom (SAHM) role last Monday, and coincidentally the 27th Annual Kids' Choice Awards (KCA) premiered on Astro 612 (Nickelodeon Channel) on that Monday evening, I decided to throw a simple pizza party and make a date to watch the show with my kids. I also invited my eldest niece to join us as well :)
Besides pizza, we have mushroom soups, garlic breads, BBQ chicken and carbonara pasta as our pizza party menu. Nyums!!
and being a sweetie, my niece Tasya also brought home made cuppies as desserts. The twins loved it! :)
The show started at 6pm Malaysia time, sharp. This year's award was hosted by the Hollywood hunk; Mr. Mark Wahlberg!
My niece was glued to the show while my son was serving himself some pizzas :D
Kicking off the KCA this year was internet sensation Todrick Hall with a pop performance medley featuring celeb cameos by Pharrell Williams, Austin Mahone and Cody Simpson, along with aerialists, cheerleaders and a step team.
Celebrated magician David Blaine made his live awards show debut by facing his greatest challenge ever – slime – in an unforgettable moment that literally knocked his head off. Scary but cool! Faaz jaws were wide open when he saw the stunt! Haha!
Faaz was totally glued to David Blaine act while Tasya texted the results to her friends who can't watched it.
Among the award winners that received the orange blimps were Adam Sandler for Favorite Movie Actor; Jennifer Lawrence for Favorite Movie Actress and Favorite Female Buttkicker; The Hunger Games: Catching Fire for Favorite Movie and Frozen for Favorite Animated Movie (Faaz and twinnies cheered happily as Frozen is their current favourite animated movie! :D).
Adam Sandler thanking his young voters :)
Faaz favourite hero, Robert Downey Jr. a.k.a Tony Stark (Ironman) won top honors for Favorite Male Buttkicker and Miranda Cosgrove took home the blimp for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie for her role of Margo in Despicable Me 2. In the television categories, Favorite TV Actor to Ross Lynch and Favorite TV Actress to Ariana Grande.
In music categories, orange blimps went to Selena Gomez for Favorite Female Singer; Justin Timberlake for Favorite Male Singer and One Direction nabbed Favorite Music Group and “Story of My Life” for Favorite Song.
The highlight of the show was a special Lifetime Achievement Award presented to the Kids’ TV hitmaker Dan Schneider. The Award was presented to him by the stars of his mega-hit series iCarly (Nathan Kress, Noah Munck), Drake & Josh (Drake Bell, Josh Peck), Victorious (Victoria Justice, Avan Jogia, Daniella Monet, Leon Thomas III, Matt Bennett), Sam & Cat (Ariana Grande, Cameron Ocasio, Maree Cheatham, Zoran Korach), Kenan & Kel (Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell) and Zoey 101 (Chris Massey).
He never failed to make us laugh, on the Big Bang show or live show! Haha!
Of course, the KCA won't be complete without the gooey greeny slimy! Most of the presenters that night had the splash of those slimy thingy as surprises! Hihi :D
Wahlberg maintained throughout the show that he would be an unslimeable host, a challenge that was put to the test against worthy opponents like Williams, Kaley Cuoco and Jack Reynor -- all of whom got doused themselves in green goo. Ultimately, not even Optimus Prime could save Wahlberg from the massive drenching delivered by none other than Kevin Hart and the host’s own kids! Haha!
The star-studded telecast featured additional celebrity participants, including: Chris Rock, Jim Parsons, Jayma Mays, Kristen Bell, Chris Evans, Nicola Peltz, Shaun White, Tia Mowry-Hardrict, Queen Latifah, Michael Strahan, Carlos PenaVega, Zendaya, Debby Ryan, Andy Samberg, America Ferrera, Sophia Grace and Rosie from The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Will Arnett, Bella Thorne, Jake Short, Lea Michele, LL Cool J, James Maslow, Peta Murgatroyd, John Cena, The Bella Twins, Ross Lynch, Kendall Schmidt, cast members from The Haunted Hathaways, Instant Mom, The Thundermans, and many others.
